Airalo API integration: sell eSIMs with every trip

Connect your Airalo partner account to PHPTRAVELS and sell local, regional and global eSIMs on your own website, next to flights, hotels and tours. The connector is ready: add your Client ID and Client Secret, test in sandbox, sync the packages, set your price and go live.

The supplier

What Airalo is, and why travel agencies sell its eSIMs

Airalo sells eSIMs: digital SIM packages a traveller installs on a phone without removing the physical SIM. Instead of buying a local SIM at the airport, the traveller buys data before the trip and installs it in a few minutes.

Through the Airalo Partner API, a travel business can sell this inventory inside its own website or app. PHPTRAVELS ships an Airalo connector in the eSIM module, so an eSIM becomes one more product in the same cart as the flight, hotel, transfer, visa or tour.

Step 1 · Partner account

Apply for an Airalo partner account

Airalo API access needs a partner agreement with Airalo. PHPTRAVELS does not issue Airalo accounts or keys: you apply, Airalo reviews your business and sends your credentials.

What to send Airalo

  • Company name and website
  • Country and business type
  • Expected eSIM sales volume
  • Target markets and destinations
  • B2C, B2B or both
  • That you use PHPTRAVELS

Step 2 · Credentials

Client ID, Client Secret and the access token

When Airalo approves your account you receive a Client ID and a Client Secret. PHPTRAVELS sends them to the token endpoint from your server, receives a bearer access token and uses it for every package, order and eSIM request.

Token request (sample)
 1# Server-side only: the Client Secret never reaches the browser 2curl -X POST "$AIRALO_API/v2/token" \ 3 -H "Accept: application/json" \ 4 -F "client_id=$CLIENT_ID" \ 5 -F "client_secret=$CLIENT_SECRET" \ 6 -F "grant_type=client_credentials" 7 8# → { "data": { "access_token": "eyJ0eXAi…", "expires_in": … } } 9# then: Authorization: Bearer <access_token>
client_credentialsPartner API v2Bearer token · Sandbox → Production
Server-side only
The token is requested by your PHPTRAVELS server. The Client Secret never reaches the browser.
Token reuse
The connector keeps the token until it expires, so it does not ask for a new one on every search.
Keep the secret private
Never put the Client Secret in public JavaScript, HTML, a public Git repository, a screenshot or a forum post.
One account, two modes
Airalo lets you choose Sandbox or Production in its configuration. Test everything in Sandbox first.

The Partner API flow

Five Airalo API calls behind every eSIM sale

From the first price on screen to the QR code in the traveller's inbox, the connector uses the same five calls. Each one shows what PHPTRAVELS does with the answer.

  1. 01Get a tokenPOST/v2/token

PHPTRAVELSSigns in with your Client ID and Client Secret and stores the bearer token on the server.

  2. 02List packagesGET/v2/packages

PHPTRAVELSSyncs local, regional and global packages with data, validity, coverage and net price, then applies your price.

  3. 03Submit an orderPOST/v2/orders

PHPTRAVELSAfter payment, orders the chosen package ID and quantity and saves the Airalo order on the booking.

  4. 04Read the eSIMGET/v2/sims/{sim_iccid}

PHPTRAVELSReads the eSIM by its ICCID: QR code, activation code, SM-DP+ address and the direct iOS install link.

  5. 05Install stepsGET/v2/sims/{sim_iccid}/instructions

PHPTRAVELSGets Airalo's installation instructions for the traveller's device and language, and adds them to the voucher.

Steps 3 to 5 · PHPTRAVELS admin

Configure, test and sync Airalo in your admin

Everything happens in the eSIM module settings of your PHPTRAVELS admin. The exact fields depend on your PHPTRAVELS version.

  1. 01Enable the eSIM moduleOpen the module settings and switch on the Airalo eSIM integration.
  2. 02Enter your credentialsPaste the Client ID and Client Secret from Airalo, choose Sandbox, and save.
  3. 03Test the connectionUse the Test button. PHPTRAVELS signs in to Airalo and shows a connected status, or the error to fix.
  4. 04Sync the packagesLoad the Airalo packages and check that destinations, data, validity and prices look right on your website.

Step 5 · eSIM packages

Local, regional and global eSIMs from one feed

Airalo returns three kinds of packages, so you can match the eSIM to the traveller's itinerary. Packages, prices and availability always come live from Airalo.

  • Local eSIM

One destination, for a trip to a single country.

    ExampleUSA eSIM

  • Regional eSIM

Several countries in one region, for a multi-country trip.

    ExampleEurope eSIM

  • Global eSIM

Countries across several regions, for long or round-the-world trips.

    ExampleGlobal eSIM

Steps 6 to 9 · The sale

How a traveller buys an Airalo eSIM on your website

The traveller never leaves your site. PHPTRAVELS runs the booking and payment, Airalo provisions the eSIM.

  1. 01Traveller

Opens the eSIM section of your website

  2. 02Traveller

    Chooses a destination

  3. 03PHPTRAVELS

Shows the Airalo packages with your price

  4. 04Traveller

    Picks a package

  5. 05Traveller

Books and pays with your payment gateway

  6. 06PHPTRAVELS

Sends the order to the Airalo API

  7. 07Airalo

  8. 08Airalo

eSIM delivery

Five ways the traveller can install the eSIM

Airalo supports several installation workflows for API partners. PHPTRAVELS puts the details on the booking voucher, the confirmation email and the traveller's account.

  • QR code

The traveller scans the QR code from the phone's eSIM settings.

  • Manual entry

The activation code and SM-DP+ address, for phones that cannot scan.

  • Airalo instructions

Step-by-step installation instructions from the API, per device and language.

  • eSIM Cloud link or PDF

A sharing link or PDF from Airalo with the full installation guide.

  • Direct iOS install

A one-tap install link for compatible iPhones on supported iOS versions.

Customer data

Map every customer to an ICCID

Airalo identifies each eSIM by its ICCID and, for this workflow, does not store your travellers' personal data. Keeping the link between the traveller and the eSIM is your job, and PHPTRAVELS does it on the booking.

  1. Customer
  2. PHPTRAVELS booking
  3. Airalo order
  4. ICCID

This chain makes support easy:Support requestsInstallation problemsOrder lookupBooking historyeSIM status

Step 7 · Your price

Set your selling price and earn on every eSIM

Airalo charges you the package cost in your commercial agreement. You decide what the traveller pays, within your agreement with Airalo.

  • Fixed markup

The same amount on top of every package.

  • Percentage markup

A percentage of the net price, so margins grow with bigger plans.

  • Service fee

A separate fee per order, shown at checkout.

  • Included in a package

An eSIM included in a holiday package or as a gift with a flight.

Example cross-sell
  1. Flight to Dubai
  2. Hotel in Dubai
  3. Airport transfer
  4. UAE eSIM

Why agencies add eSIMs

  • More revenue per booking
  • An ancillary almost every international traveller needs
  • Instant digital delivery, no stock
  • Travellers come back for the next trip

The voucher option. Airalo also sells eSIM vouchers: you buy activation codes and hand them out through your website, app, CRM or email. Choose the method that matches your Airalo agreement.
