How it works

Viator experiences inside your own travel website

A Viator API integration connects your booking website to a Viator partner account, so tours and activities appear next to your flights and hotels. PHPTRAVELS ships a Viator module in the tours category: you paste your Viator API key into the admin, pick the sandbox or production environment, and destination searches start returning Viator products with your markup applied. Partner access and its booking model are granted by Viator, so confirm your account type before planning a launch.

  1. Apply to the Viator partner programme and receive your API key
  2. Open Modules in the PHPTRAVELS admin and enter the key in the Viator settings
  3. Choose the sandbox environment and save to run the credential check
  4. Set your markup and test searches for your main destinations
  5. Switch to production once results and prices look right

Booking flow

From a Viator search to a recorded booking

The path one Viator product takes through your site with the standard module.

  1. Search

    The destination, date and travellers go to Viator and matching products come back.

  2. Price

    Your markup and currency conversion are applied to each from-price.

  3. Details

    The customer opens the product to read the itinerary, inclusions and cancellation policy.

  4. Record

    A booking record is saved in your admin with travellers, supplier price and selling price.

  5. Complete on Viator

    The customer is sent to the Viator product page in a new window to finish the booking.
