The supplier

What RateHawk is, and why agencies connect it

RateHawk is the B2B booking platform of Emerging Travel Group (ETG) for travel agents, tour operators and travel companies. Partners book hotels, apartments and other stays on net rates, either in RateHawk's own portal or through its API.

The API is called the ETG API. Its current version is v3, a REST API with JSON requests and responses that covers search, booking and cancellation. PHPTRAVELS ships a RateHawk connector in the stays module, so RateHawk results appear next to your other hotel suppliers and your own contracts.

The ETG API v3 booking flow

How a RateHawk booking runs, phase by phase

Every RateHawk booking goes through the same five phases. Each one lists the ETG API calls behind it and what PHPTRAVELS does for you.

  1. 01

    Search

    ETG API calls

Search by region · by geo coordinates · by hotel IDs

    PHPTRAVELS

Searches by city, map area or a hotel list, with dates, guests and the traveller's residency, and shows live net rates with your markup.

  2. 02

    Hotel page

    ETG API calls

    Retrieve hotelpage

    PHPTRAVELS

Loads every room and rate of the chosen hotel: meal plan, taxes, cancellation policy and payment type.

  3. 03

    Prebook

    ETG API calls

Prebook rate · Retrieve rate info

    PHPTRAVELS

Checks the chosen rate is still available at that price just before payment, and stops the checkout if it changed.

  4. 04

    Book

    ETG API calls

Create, start and check booking process

    PHPTRAVELS

Creates the booking, sends the guest details, follows the status until it is confirmed and stores the RateHawk order ID.

  5. 05

    After booking

    ETG API calls

Retrieve bookings · Cancel booking · Status webhooks

    PHPTRAVELS

Sends the voucher, shows the booking in the admin and the customer account, and runs cancellations under the rate's policy.

Static data

Import the RateHawk hotel database once, then keep it fresh

Search results only carry rates. Names, addresses, photos, amenities and descriptions come from ETG's static data, which PHPTRAVELS imports into your hotel pages.

  • Regions dump

Countries, cities and areas, so travellers can search by destination.

  • Hotel dump

The full hotel content file: names, addresses, coordinates, photos, amenities and descriptions.

  • Incremental dump

Only what changed since the last import, so the catalogue stays current without a full reload.

  • Reviews dump

Guest review scores and texts to show on hotel pages, where your agreement includes them.

  • Hotel dump100%
  • Incremental dump64%

ETG also offers a Content API for hotel data on demand, next to the dump files.

API key and sandbox

How RateHawk API authentication works

The ETG API uses HTTP Basic authentication. Your key ID is the username and your API key is the password, sent over HTTPS with every request.

A sandbox search request (sample)
 1# HTTP Basic: key ID = username, API key = password 2curl -u "$KEY_ID:$API_KEY" \ 3 -H "Content-Type: application/json" \ 4 https://api-sandbox.ratehawk.com/api/b2b/v3/search/serp/hotels/ \ 5 -d '{ 6 "checkin": "2026-11-14", 7 "checkout": "2026-11-16", 8 "residency": "gb", 9 "language": "en",10 "currency": "USD",11 "guests": [{ "adults": 2, "children": [] }],12 "hids": [8473727]13 }'1415# 8473727 = the test hotel: a real booking if you book it
HTTP BasicETG API v3api-sandbox.ratehawk.com → api.ratehawk.com
Two hosts
Sandbox: api-sandbox.ratehawk.com. Test and production: api.ratehawk.com. The old worldota.net hosts are deprecated.
The test hotel is real
Test keys may only book the test hotel with hid 8473727, and that booking is real, with real financial responsibility. Cancel it right after the test.
Keys stay on the server
PHPTRAVELS keeps the key ID and API key in the server configuration, never in the browser or an app.
Residency matters
Rates depend on the traveller's residency, so the connector sends it with every search.

FAQ

RateHawk API integration questions

What agencies ask before connecting RateHawk.

Talk to sales

RateHawk does not publish a fee for API access. You sign an API agreement and sell its hotels on net rates with your own markup. Your costs are your booking software, hosting and payments.

Contact RateHawk as a travel company and sign the API agreement. RateHawk then issues a key ID and API key for the sandbox, and production keys after certification.

The ETG API documentation is online at docs.emergingtravel.com, with the B2B API, the Content API, the sandbox and certification guides. There is no separate PDF to download; the online docs are the current version.

ETG API is the API of Emerging Travel Group, the company behind RateHawk. RateHawk API integration and ETG API integration mean the same thing; the current version is v3.

PHPTRAVELS is a one-time licence from $2,499 with the full source code, and the RateHawk connector is included in the stays module. Your RateHawk commercial terms are agreed with RateHawk.

Yes, at api-sandbox.ratehawk.com. Note that test keys may only book the test hotel with hid 8473727, and that booking is real, so cancel it right after testing.

Agents register and log in on ratehawk.com to book in the portal. API access is separate: it uses the key ID and API key from your agreement, not your portal login.

The connector already exists, so the time goes into the agreement, adding keys, importing the hotel content and RateHawk's certification, rather than development.

Yes. The same connector serves your B2C website and your B2B agent portal, with separate markups per channel and agent group.

Each rate carries its cancellation policy, which is shown before payment. Cancellations run from the admin or the customer account through the cancel booking call, under that policy.
