Ask them for your bookings, customers and supplier credentials in a machine-readable format before you commit to anything, and confirm you can point your own domain and payment gateways at a new platform. Get that in writing first; it is the part that stalls migrations.

You need someone who can look after a PHP and MySQL server (patching, backups, certificates), whether that is an employee, a contractor or a managed host. You do not need developers to use the platform day to day. You do need them if you intend to take advantage of having the source code.
